Tour du Mont Blanc: the alpine circuit that crosses three countries and never bores you

170 km around Europe’s highest peak through France, Italy, and Switzerland. Glaciers, wildflower meadows, and a different cuisine every few days. The TMB is Europe’s answer to every walking trip that’s “just” a walk.

Full Circuit

11 days

170 km through France, Italy, and Switzerland. Mountain refuge nights for the immersive version, or valley hotel upgrades for the version where you shower properly every night. The circuit crosses the Col de la Seigne (France–Italy) and the Grand Col Ferret (Italy–Switzerland).

Best for:

Fit walkers, alpine enthusiasts, people who want a challenge that’s still a holiday

Planner’s edge:

Late June–September for snow-free passes — we plan the variant routes most guides skip and the valley-town dinners that make the refuges feel earned.

A traditional dark-timbered Savoyard chalet in the foreground with the Aiguille Verte and Aiguille du Midi of the Mont Blanc massif rising behind, late-summer alpine pasture in the foreground.

Highlight Sections

5–7 days

The Courmayeur–Chamonix section covers the most dramatic terrain: the Aiguille Rouges, the Mer de Glace, and the Mont Blanc massif in full view. We build highlight trips around this corridor when time is the constraint.

Best for:

Those with limited time, walkers wanting the best sections without the full commitment

Planner’s edge:

We identify the 3–4 days that give you the circuit’s best views and most varied terrain — the highlights version isn’t a compromise, it’s a different trip.

Alpine wildflowers (lupines and grasses) in the foreground of a Tour du Mont Blanc high-meadow scene, a stone refuge at the right with a metal roof, glaciated peaks of the Bionnassay range rising in the background.
